Background music of varying tempi produces differing facial emotional expressions and performance in music-majors and non-majors as they complete a reading comprehension test

This study examined how music major and non-music participants’ performances emotional expressions differed when exposed to background of varying tempi while completing a reading comprehension task. Two questions were addressed: (1) What effect does have on the performance majors task? (2) real-time expressed emotions self-report measures may predict scores between majors? A total 34 participants completed task under each three musical test conditions facial-muscular emotion software analyzed their facial expressions, understand performance. Results indicated that displayed significantly different ( p < .05) joy contempt, which corresponded no significant differences in scores, comparison non-majors, whose varied greatly across given. These findings support growing literature surrounding possible effects training trained non-musicians be understood through detection software.

Comparison of hearing levels of college music and non-music majors: Does rehearsal noise affect hearing health?

Noise exposure was assessed in college students using dosimeters. Hearing sensitivity was measured using pure-tone thresholds and distortion product otoacoustic emissions. Results indicate music majors are exposed to higher levels of noise due to rehearsal compared to their non-music major peers.
